Can You Tell The Sex Of Your Baby From Your Bump?
We have all heard somewhere along the line ‘it’s a boy because it is all at the front’ or ‘it’s a girl because it is low down’. Are these just old wives’ tales or are they true?
Alas, I am sorry to inform you that according to Dr Christian who advising for closer magazine, these are indeed false predictions.
He states that the gender of the baby is not determined by the shape of the mothers bump – the strength of the mothers muscles in her abdomen determine the shape of the mothers bump. A woman who is older in years or has had previous children may find that her bump is lower down as her abdominal muscles are looser. The tighter the abdominal muscles then the higher the bump.
So is it true then that you can tell that you are having a boy by the speed of it’s heart? Or that you tend to have more morning sickness with a girl? Again, these are old wives’ tales according to Dr Christian. He goes on to say that you can only accurately find out the sex of your baby is via ultrasound scan or an amniocentesis test ( Amniocentesis is a medical procedure used in prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities and fetal infections. This procedure is where a small amount of amniotic fluid, which contains fetal tissues, is extracted from the amnion or amniotic sac surrounding a developing fetus, and the fetal DNA is examined for genetic abnormalities).
